MIDLIFE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE MESSY

Each of us desires to live a midlife that matters. For this to happen, we need to engage crucial areas of life.

Life doesn’t have to slow down; we do. There are plenty of opportunities for our gifts and talents to be displayed but not enough places to be holistically developed.

At The King’s Cellar x Love + Lead Retreat, we’ll be hearing from nationally recognized speakers on how to establish a thriving mid-life, coupled with sessions and experiences that have been expertly curated to help you reflect, rest, and re-engage this mission-critical season of our lives. No detail has been overlooked.

We look forward to seeing you in the beautiful and historic Adirondack Mountains.

LOCATION

Located in the Adirondack Mountains, Saranac Village is an Adirondack Great Camp notable for its unique chalets inspired by hunting lodges. William L. Coulter’s design is a significant example of the Adirondack Rustic style. The camp is located on a bluff overlooking the northern reaches of Upper Saranac Lake. It was built for New York City copper magnate and financier Adolph Lewisohn.

After meeting Thomas Edison in the 1870s, Mr. Lewisohn pushed the family firm to become involved with copper. Previously undervalued, copper’s conductivity made it vital for a world increasingly dependent on electricity. In the 1880s, the brothers were among the first to invest in the copper mines of Butte, Montana.

More regarding Saranac Village: In a departure from the tendency of camps to be sheltered in the woods, Saranac Village towers over its shoreline, approached by several broad flights of steps from the water. The main lodge is a three-story chalet with a half-timbered effect, with birch bark filling the role usually played by brick or stucco. Birch bark is also used as a ceiling treatment between the beams. Interior walls were finished with local spruce and southern pine, stained green or tan. The boathouse was the largest on the lake. Saranac Village is part of the National Register of Historic Places.

On July 21, 2023, CNN released an article noting Saranac, NY, titled “15 of America’s best small towns and cities.” Saranac has also recently been published as “New York’s Healing Town.” Within Saranac, 180 structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
